How do you clean a freshwater engine after fishing in saltwater?

I have a 2004 Lowe with a 90hp Yamaha engine. It has only been used in freshwater, but I am planning on using it down on the coast over the holidays. Since the engine is cooled by water circulating through it, I have heard that it is bad to use in saltwater, since the salt crystalizes after use. Any suggestions?

Clean the engine the same as you do after running in freshwater. Use the water muffs as soon as you are done fishing and the salt will not have time to crystallize. If you have the hose connection that you can disconnect for quick flushing on the motor, use it. The quick flush is not a replacement for running the motor with the water muffs.

Good suggestions, otherwise just take it and run it in fresh water soon after saltwater use.
