Good freshwater fishing in TX?

freshwater fishing
Depth of Perception asked:

Anyone know a good freshwater spot for fishing in TX? Maybe a little known creek or pond? Not a lot of people, quiet.
I am a little north of Houston. I am a beginner (read as never been freshwater fishing before) so I was looking for a spot that would not be overrun by people and I would have a chance to learn in peace.

Lake Sam Rayburn produces big Large Mouth, as does Toledo Bend. But the largest bass are found Lake Fork.

Here is a link to verify.

A quiet little known place that you are looking to find would quickly be swarmed by hoards of ravenous Texan fishermen at the mention of its name on the internet. If I knew which area of Texas you were interested in fishing I would gladly offer you a few of my favorite public areas. The poster Johnny L defietly hit the top 3 places in the state. There are great places all over the state (Yes, Texas is a GREAT State indeed for sportsmen) and If you would add a general area you would like to fish, I will add it to my answer. I’ll check back later.

Edited to add:
In that area Spring Lake, Lewis Creek Reservoir and Lake Conroe is nearby, not overcrowed during the week and holds decent bass. There are lots of videos on bass fishing for viewing on Youtube.com that are designed for the just learning beginner through the expert angler. You might want to look at some of these.=

Good fishin’ friend!
