i live in sacramento,, it depends on what u r fishing for,, for trout go to the many small lakes up highway 50 twards tahoe or i-80 reno so so many to choose from,, i like fallen leaf lake right by tahoe,, if you want striper or cats go any where on the sac river i find them to be huge near knights landing about 30 miles west of sac– e-mail me for directions to any of theese locations let me know what u r fishing for i can also tell what bait to use in different spots i fish a lot
