The best fish is whatever you can care for. I like bala sharks but they get bigger than 7″. Kissing gouramis are cool, dwarf gouramis are too. Catfish are alot of fun to watch if you get two but will grow big fast. Mine is 13″. Cichlids are alot of fun, I like watching my tiger oscars eat feeder fish, and you can train them like a dog. They also get mad when the cat goes by their tank, I keep them with 2 kissing gouramis, 2 bala’s, 2 cat’s, 2 mollies, and an algea eater. They all get along fine, the kissing fish get a little teratorial with the oscars sometimes. The cats look like they’re dancing all the time and the balas fly around quickly. I have to keep my big cat by himself, he doesn’t try to eat other fish he’s just destructive and likes to be alone.

balla sharks are no good they get aggressive and gold fish are just too dirty you should probably get a dragon goby( also known as dragon fish, violet goby) or a plecostomos also known as( sucker fish) i would also recommend chinese algae eaters they grow to about those listed ones grow to 7-12 inches and are non aggressive.

My favorite currently is my salvini cichlid, also know as the tri colored cichlid. Great fish and a great personality. The fact that his color pops in a dark gravel tank is just a bonus.

I love Electric Yellow Cichlids, they only get to about three inches, but they are are brilliant colour and really bring out the colour in any tank. They are one of the more peaceful cichlids, perhaps a community of like-tempered African Cichlids would be a good way to go!
there are many brightly coloured beautiful ones of different sizes who go well together, just be sure not to put them in with other typical community fish like guppies etc.

I STRONGLY beleive that you shouldget Dragon Fish, they look alotlike eels but they look awesome and are very hearty, they growto be around 7″ but some could grow as long as 12″ and they arent scared of you, you cant litterally pet them. Also they are really fun to watch! Good luck.

I really like my catfish! Pictus Catfish: can get up to around that 7″ mark if well fed with high protein foods (they like to eat smaller fish like small guppies, neons, fry of any fish so they aren’t a good choice in a community tank after they reach a size where the other fish will fit in their mouths). Will eat almost anything though from live foods to flakes and dried bloodworms. They are happier in a pair though. They go absolutely crazy at feeding time- they are all over the tank. They are silvery with long, wide whiskers and have black polka dots. They are a pretty fish. Then there’s my Striped Raphael Catfish- he is very shy and peaceful and likes to hide during the day. Don’t see him much except at feeding time. He will eat pretty much anything that ends up on the bottom of the tank. He is FAT! He is brown with a cream colored stripe going down his side and a cream colored underside. Has fairly short whiskers. I think he is so cute because he is so fat looking! I have all of them trained to eat small pieces of frozen shrimp right from my fingers. I can’t forget to mention the Albino Cory which is also adorable. Those are my favorites out of the ordinary ones you mentioned above. Also like mollies and swordtails.
