What are some exotic and small freshwater fish for my aquarium?
Tyler P asked:
I have a 30 gallon freshwater aquarium and I want a small exotic fish that will get along with a community type lifestyle, a fish with very low aggression. If you could please tell me the name and make sure it is cool looking.

In addition, if you could provide a link it would be great. It can give you a chance at the best answer. AN easy 10pts.

I love Dalmation Mollies, they have great personalities, neon tetras and zebra danios are cool but they are schooling fish so you would need several. Cory Catfish are my favorite catfish as they are cute and fun to watch. Guppies are colorful and fun to watch as well. These are all relatively small fish and made my last aquarium very pretty!
guppies, neon tetras, ….&balloon mollies are just cute!:D
tiger barbs 100%- just buy them in groups of 5 or more and they will whiz around the tank with each other! Add green versions and albino barbs to create a colorful aquaruim. They live at 72-82 Farenheit and eat brine shrimp and fish food as a main staple in their diet.
they grow up to 3 inches
DO NOT
keep them with slow moving fish such as angelfish and bettas. that is asking for trouble as they will nip fins.
note: in groups of 6 or more they do not nip fins. unless fish above and some others. (ask your LFS)
gouramis are wonderful tropical fish that live in tropical temps.
the eat the same as tiger barbs and grow to four inches
they do not school and will not go well with the tiger barbs.
i would go for gouramis!
I’d refer Sparkling Gouramis:&
Clown Killifish:
And Celestial Pearl Danio:
Some of these can be hard to find at an LFS, but when you do, they are well worth it. All of them are peaceful as well. Keep in mind that the CPD range from $5-$12 per fish.
I’ll add more if I can find any other interesting fish.
E-mail me for any questions!
alright you want some very cool exotic fish that make ur tank look really cool. i have some good ideas for u umm gouramis are cool but no exotic at all. a Upside-down Catfish for the bottom of ur tank or a Whiptail Catfish alot cooler than a common pelco. I love the Rainbowfish. umm maybe a Pseudomugil Rainbowfish but that one is a schooling fish so u would need about 4 or more of those guys. and a Lohachata Botia Loach. ive had these in the past a
Striatum Killifish they are so sharp in ur tank cuz they stay at the top and are very peacefull. i really hope this helps u out a little. umm email me at if u have any ? about anything
